A devastating gas explosion occurred on Thursday, September 21, 2023, evening at the Oxygen Unit of the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua, resulting in the tragic loss of a security personnel at the hospital.
The exact cause of the oxygen cylinder explosion remains unclear at this time. However, it has been confirmed that two other health workers who were present in the building during the incident miraculously escaped without injuries.
The security personnel who suffered severe head injuries was promptly rushed to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where medical staff placed him on a ventilator in an attempt to save his life.
Unfortunately, despite the valiant efforts of the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
In the wake of this devastating incident, the hospital’s management has reached out to the family of the deceased to inform them of the tragic loss.
