Five students apprehended for stabbing 12 Form 2 students
Five students from Gomoa Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School have been apprehended in connection with a violent assault that left 12 Form 2 students injured.
The suspects, mostly Form 3 students, carried out a nighttime attack on the Form 2 students in retaliation for a prior dispute involving one of their peers and a junior student.
Under the cover of darkness after lights-out had been signaled on campus, the assailants, led by some final-year students, launched their assault on the unsuspecting Form 2 students who were already in their dormitory beds.
They employed knives to stab some victims and used clubs to strike others, also disorienting them with flashlights. Despite the swift response of the school’s security team and the Potsin Neighborhood Watch Committee, the attackers managed to harm 12 of their fellow students.
The injured students were promptly taken to the Potsin Polyclinic for medical attention.
Reports suggest that the attack was motivated by revenge for a previous altercation between a Form 2 student and a Form 3 student, in which the Form 2 student had slapped his senior on Friday, September 8, 2023.
Although one member of the attacking group had discreetly informed some of the Form 2 students about the impending assault, they chose to keep the information to themselves until the incident occurred.
In a related incident, another student returning to campus from town was assaulted by unidentified individuals who stabbed him and stole his mobile phone late on Saturday evening.
The school’s security team, in collaboration with the Gomoa Potsin Neighborhood Watch Committee, conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of the five students.
They have since been handed over to the Gomoa Potsin police for further investigation.
While school authorities have not issued any official statements regarding the incidents, sources suggest that the parents of the suspects have been summoned, and a committee is being established to address the matter.
