Sekondi: Egyapa Mercer submits nomination forms for 3rd parliamentary run

Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, the two-term Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi and the Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, has officially filed his nomination forms to contest for a third term in office.
The submission was made at the Electoral Commission’s district office in Sekondi, where he expressed confidence in his bid and emphasized the developmental progress made during his tenure.
Speaking to Beach FM after the submission, Egyapa Mercer noted that this is the third time he has filed his nomination for the Sekondi parliamentary seat, having previously contested and won in 2016 and 2020. “As you’re very much aware, this is not the first time I’m filing nominations to contest. This is my third time. And indeed, when we got here, the Electoral Commission officers received us, took us through the process, collected the forms, and checked. And after all that, they gave me an indication by way of endorsing on it to prove that they are satisfied with the documents we submitted,” he shared.

Egyapa Mercer took the opportunity to highlight some of the key achievements during his time in office, which have brought significant improvements to the Sekondi constituency. “Various communities have been impacted by the work that I’ve done, by way of roads, schools, electricity, social amenities, clinics, and many others,” he said.
Despite these accomplishments, he stressed that development is a continuous process. “But in all of these, I’ll say we are not there yet, because development is not an event. It’s a process that several factors have to come together to make sure that happens.”
He also pointed out that while much has been achieved, there is still more work to be done to fully realize the potential of the constituency. “I believe that we’re on the right path. We’ve done a lot over the past eight years. And I’m clear in my mind that, by the grace of God, this election will be won hands down.”
As the Sekondi MP prepares for his third electoral contest, he remains confident that his track record of delivering essential infrastructure and services will resonate with constituents and secure another victory for him. His campaign is expected to focus on continuing the development efforts that have characterized his time in office, particularly in sectors such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
