UAE lifts visa ban on Nigeria, flight operations to resume
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted its one-year visa ban on travelers from Nigeria.
Following talks between UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President of Nigeria Bola Tinubu on Monday in Abu Dhabi, the restriction put in place in October was lifted.
Following the agreement, Emirates and Etihad airlines are to resume Nigeria flight operations immediately, according to President Tinubu’s spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale.
The UAE had stopped issuing visas to Nigerians as a result of numerous diplomatic disputes between the two countries.
The Emirates airline of Dubai shut down operations in Nigeria last year, citing trapped revenues, which resulted in the suspension of flights between the two countries.
