CETAG is set to meet NLC regarding the issue of withheld salaries

CETAG

Today, the leadership of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) is set to engage in a meeting with the National Labour Commission (NLC) to address the ongoing deadlock between the association and the Ministry of Education.

At the instruction of the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Controller and Accountant General’s Department has taken the step of withholding salaries belonging to CETAG members.

Since August 1, CETAG has been in a state of strike due to the government’s failure to implement the terms outlined in their conditions of service.

The NLC subsequently directed the government to put into action the agreed-upon conditions; however, this implementation has yet to be carried out. Consequently, the association has made the decision to continue the strike until such time as the government takes action.

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana has firmly stated that the strike will persist until the government follows through on the mutually established conditions of service.

Having initiated the strike on August 1, CETAG’s reason for this action stems from the government’s disregard of the NLC’s Arbitral Award Orders and the negotiated conditions of service since May 2, 2023.
