Justice Oteng, widely known as Wei Ye Oteng has proclaimed that most artistes in Ghana are selfish and self-centred.
Mr. Oteng claims that they only regard industry players when it’s beneficial to them.
Speaking on Spice FM’s OFIE ne fie with Nana Ama Shancy, Mr Oteng explained that our industry is going to remain the same if we don’t change our mindset and awful attitude. According to him, we need to give credit to whom credit is due
The renowned music producer has a big problem with artiste refusing to give credit to music producers.
“Most artiste are so selfish to the point that they refuse to give credit to their own producers. Just go on Spotify or any music platform and check the number of music with music producers attached.
They always want to win alone and if you’re not smart as a producer, you might one day end up on TV soliciting funds for your upkeep. Just as they enjoy royalties, we are also entitled but you can only get that as a producer when you’re smart and it’s sad”, he lamented
Wei Ye Oteng also showed his disgust at how artistes reach out to presenters, producers and DJs only when they have a project. “Sometimes you only hear from artiste when they want to record and when they’re through, that’s it.
Let’s be honest 99% of artiste only reach out to producers, presenters and DJs only when they have a project. Most of the artiste do not even have good and smart relationships with these people so it’s always about their managers and that’s appalling”, he raged.
