John Dumelo, a former actor now active in politics, is mourning the loss of his mother.
He shared the news of his mother’s passing, identified as Mrs. Antoinette Ama Ampomah Dumelo, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 15.
Mrs. Ampomah Dumelo had turned 71 in January 2023. Expressing his sorrow, the multifaceted actor wrote on his Facebook page, “My heart is shattered. My beloved mother passed away yesterday – my foremost supporter. Heaven has welcomed an angel.”
Recently, Dumelo received the endorsement of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership to run for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency in the 2024 general elections. The party’s statement, signed by constituency chairman Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, revealed that the two other contenders in the race willingly withdrew, paving the way for Dumelo’s candidacy.
One of the aspirants, Fred Nuamah, officially exited the race on August 8 and pledged wholehearted support to John. The NDC urged the public and their supporters to unite behind Dumelo’s candidacy to secure victory over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.
