The NDC dismisses Kumawu women’s organizer after she openly backs Alan

Kumawu

Madam Akua Afriyie, a member of the Kumawu branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been dismissed from her position due to her public endorsement of Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a hopeful candidate for the NPP flagbearer role.

Despite her affiliation with the opposition NDC, she openly expressed her support for Alan, leading to her removal. Her endorsement of Alan gained significant attention during the Kumawu by-election, and she mentioned that her dismissal followed the widespread circulation of the video capturing her announcement.

In her statement, she revealed her intention to back Alan’s candidacy in the 2024 elections if he became the NPP’s flagbearer. She praised Alan’s vision for the country and his potential to inspire hope among the youth. However, her declaration was met with disapproval from the NDC due to her outspoken support for an NPP figure.

Akua Afriyie has disclosed that she now considers herself a floating voter after receiving a dismissal letter, indicating that she is not a member of either the NDC or the NPP. She remains a staunch supporter of Mr. Kyerematen.

She cautioned that if the NPP does not choose Mr. Kyerematen to lead the party and he is denied the opportunity, she will abstain from participating in the 2024 elections.

Meanwhile, during the constituency delegates Durbar for Kumawu, Afram Plains, and Effiduase Asokore constituencies, delegates gathered in large numbers and expressed their determination to prevent Alan from winning this time. They collectively asserted that Alan’s time to lead the party had come, and they vowed not to let anything obstruct his path.
