Two more suspects arrested in the ongoing investigations into the stolen funds of Cecilia Dapaah
As part of the ongoing inquiry into the misappropriated funds from the former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah’s residence, two additional suspects have been apprehended.
During a court session on Wednesday, August 2, the police prosecutor, DSP Emmanuel Nyamekye, disclosed this development.
Initially, five individuals, including two domestic staff members of the former Aviation Minister, were detained on suspicion of stealing a million dollars, 300,000 euros, and various personal belongings valued at a significant amount of Ghana Cedis.
However, the accused were absent from the court proceeding due to ongoing investigative activities in Tamale, as explained by the prosecutor. With the addition of the two new apprehensions, the total number of accused individuals has risen to seven.
Notably, one of the accused, Sarah Agyei, the second individual, was granted bail the previous week, although the bail conditions remain unmet.
The remaining six, including the recently arrested suspects, have been remanded into police custody. The case has been postponed until August 8.
In the midst of these developments, Augustine Gyamfi, the legal representative of the second accused individual, raised concerns over alleged hindrances imposed by the police, asserting that they were impeding efforts to satisfy the bail requirements.
