If I had a fraction of Cecilia Dapaah’s $1m, imports of onions and tomatoes will reduce -John Dumelo
John Dumelo, a Politician, Actor and Farmer, has stated his desire to lessen Ghana’s dependency on tomato and onion imports.
Mr. Dumelo, who is also an outspoken supporter of regional agriculture, claimed that if he received even a small portion of the $1 million that was purportedly stolen from former sanitation minister Cecilia Dapaah, he could accomplish this goal.
The well-known politician, farmer, and actor claimed he would invest in high-yielding seeds, sophisticated irrigation methods, and farm expansion to use the funds. He thinks that doing this will enable him to grow more veggies close to home, so reducing the need to import them from nearby nations.
“Only if I had a fraction of Cecilia Dapaa’s $1m, the importation of onions and tomatoes from Burkina and Niger will reduce by 10% in 2024 and 19% in 2025. I will invest it heavily in irrigation and high yielding seeds and make some good profits. So help me God!”
