EKMA To Tighten Security To Protect Residents

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, EKMA, Mr. Kojo Acquah has said the security and safety of residents within the Assembly still remains a priority.

In light of this, he said, the security apparatus will be strengthened to counter robbery incidents in the various communities. Even though the Assembly has made some significant gains in the implementation of security measures to combat crime in the Municipality, residents still need to feel safe.

Addressing the Second Ordinary meeting of the fourth session of EKMA, he noted there is crime rate is on descendency but the need to ensure the safety of the constituents,

In so doing, he directed that all motorbikes should be registered before their usage, as this would help to track down those who use motorbikes to indulge in the robbery. These motorbikes, he said indirectly cause accidents on the roads.

Touching on the issue of flooding, the MCE enumerated the dredging activities that have been carried out in some storm drains in the Assembly.

” Honourable Presiding member, as part of activities to reduce flooding and its adverse effects. The Assembly dredged a number of rivers and drainages known to be significant contributors to the flooding incidents recorded in the Municipality,” He said.

On the YouStart initiative, Hon. Acquah said 100 beneficiaries between the ages of 18-40 have been selected and trained extensively for fifteen days, and awarded certificates in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, Kaizen and other business-related topics.
