NDC’s Lawyer Fiifi Buckman controls heavy traffic at Apollo junction

The National Democratic Congress’ Parliamentary Candidate for Kwesimintsim Constituency, Lawyer Philip Fiifi Buckman was seen directing traffic after a truck conveying bauxite broke down due to the terrible nature of the road, causing heavy vehicular traffic.

Speaking to Beach Newsroom, Lawyer Fiifi Buckman said he could not look unconcerned after he encountered the said development on the Kwesimintsim to Apollo traffic light.

“I was headed to Apramdo, when I got to Apollo traffic light, a truck loaded with bauxite was stuck due to the terrible nature of the road and that has caused a serious traffic at the traffic light of Apollo junction. We stood and looking for a way to ensure free flow and also avert any possible danger…I pleaded with a city guard to direct the incoming vehicles but he told me he had closed and my attempt to get an officer from the MTTD to come to our aid was futile.”

“So I had to step in and direct the vehicles from Tarkwa, Elubo and ensure free flow at the junction”, he added.

The legal practitioner cum politician responded to commentary by some section of the public who attributed his action to his thirst for power come 2024. They say he did this because he was contesting a position.

“Even if I wasn’t contesting elections, I would have done what I did. Many people tend to politicize everything because our mindsets are clad in politics. Immediately I stepped in, the road has seen some improvement, so if doing politics like these will bring us some improvements, then I will do the politics they are talking about. If it was politics, and it will bring political marks why was this road neglected by the government in power?”

Lawyer Fiifi Buckman said the region is faced with a myriad of infrastructural challenges because of the lack of visionary leaders, adding that he will have issues like this resolved if he is elected as member of parliament in 2024.

“Because of the lack of visionary leadership we are faced with such challenges in the region. As a citizen, if I see anything wrong around me, I will rise and talk. After doing this, that evening, machines were brought to the junction to solve the situation. So what is the leadership in the region doing?”

“The leadership in the region are just arm-chair leaders. We have terrible roads and wonton disregard for planning in the region. After I win power, I won’t even let simple challenges like these exist, I will make sure they are resolved.”
