ECG Installs 40,000 Smart Prepaid Meters In The Western Region

The Western Regional General Manager, of the Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG, Emmanuel Justice Ofori, says the Company has begun the installation of 40,000 new prepaid meters for customers within the western region.

Mr Ofori leading a delegation of ECG management to visit the various areas where the meters are being installed, he said the company has a partnership with the company manufacturing the new smart meters, saying aside from the deployment of the meters, there is an ongoing installation exercise for customers who earlier applied for the smart meters.

Mr Ofori further encouraged customers interested in the new smart meters, to apply for one. Adding that both premium and normal meters are available now for customers. He was hopeful the arrival of meters will bring satisfaction to customers and curb the delays related to ECG services.

Mr Emmanuel Justice Ofori said the ECG remains committed to offering quality services to their customers, including those with no meters, those who have applied for meters, as well as individuals with faulty and post-paid meters.

Touching on the issue of unpaid bills, Mr Ofori said measures have been placed in place to check those who have arrears. Adding customers will be made aware of the estimated and actual bill, and refunds made to affected customers where necessary.

Mr Ofori further cautioned the public, to avoid doing business with unscrupulous persons with the aim of getting quick results and rather visit the offices of the company for official procedures when applying for a meter.
