Nigerian FDA Issues A Recall For Sprite Glass Bottles Due To Potential Contamination

A batch of Sprite glass bottles that are now in circulation have been ordered to be recalled by Nigeria’s food and drug regulator, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), due to potential particle contamination.

Following a customer complaint, the recall was started. Subsequent investigations showed that more than five crates of the affected batch of glass Sprite 50cl bottles were tainted. The authorities have not revealed the precise makeup of the particles or any potential ramifications.

Recalling the impacted batch has been ordered for Nigerian Bottling Company Limited’s Abuja facility. The business is still undecided about the choice. Retailers and customers have been admonished by the agency to take precautions and steer clear of tainted products.

People have been urged to seek emergency medical assistance if they have consumed contaminated foods. In order to identify the source of the contamination, a review of the manufacturing facility will also be done.

Following recalls in Malaysia and Taiwan due to the discovery of a potentially cancer-causing ingredient, the FDA previously opened an inquiry into a well-known brand of noodles in May.
