COPEC Hints Of Imminent Shortage Of Petroleum Products If Strike By Tanker Drivers Continues

COPEC

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, COPEC Ghana has given wind of a possible shortage of fuel and petroleum products by the close of today, June 29, 2023, if striking tanker drivers do not recede their decisions.

The Tanker Drivers Association this week embarked on an industrial strike demanding the fixing of deplorable roads leading to and from their depot all across the country.

Executive Secretary of COPEC, Duncan Amoah said the development could lead to long queues at fuel and LPG stations.

He urged the government to listen to their concerns and make the roads motorable.

Meanwhile, the Communications Manager of the National Petroleum Authority, Mohammed Kudus says the Authority has had an engagement with the Association and fuel service providers to ensure that the issue is resolved.

He said the Authority is mobilizing funds on its own to ensure work starts on the road to avert fuel shortages.

In a related development, the Chief Executive of the Association of Oil Marketing Companies, AOMCs, Kwaku Agyemang Duah in his reaction to the strike by Fuel Tanker Drivers, predicted a shortage of fuel at the pumps.
