We’ll Keep Working To Increase Ghanaians’ Capacity In The Energy Sector – Deputy Energy Minister

Herbert

The Deputy Minister for Energy, Herbert Krapa has stated that the government will keep working nonstop to improve the knowledge and abilities of workers in the petroleum industry.

He made these remarks when he addressed the Upstream Job Role Localisation Conference at the Accra International Conference Centre on 27th June 2023.

Mr Krapa emphasized that for Ghana’s aspiration of local content to be realized, the capacities of knowledge, skill, technology, and finance must all work in concert. He also commended the Petroleum Commission (PC) for the excellent work carried out thus far in its capacity as the upstream regulator.

While listing Ghana’s achievements in the energy sector, the Deputy Minister shared the sizeable investment the government had made in enhancing Ghanaian capacity in engineering, geosciences, modern technology, and welding; the outcome of that investment is the moderate pool of Ghanaian skilled personnel available and prepared for employment in the upstream sector.

“The PC has vigilant and proactive, and today’s Conference for job role localisation is another evidence of your being alive to the task. Congratulations to all of you at the Commission”, Hon. Krapa said.

“The Petroleum Commission deserves all our congratulations on the proactivity to work with the Ministry of Energy to develop a Policy on Localisation, and I can assure you of the Ministry’s fullest support for this important policy to see the light of day”, he continued.
