N’Golo Kante: Chelsea midfielder agrees to join Saudi champions Al-Ittihad
N’Golo Kante, the talented midfielder from Chelsea and the French national team, has reached an agreement to join Al-Ittihad, the reigning champions of Saudi Arabia. Kante’s contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of June.
Throughout the 2022-23 season, he faced challenges with injuries, limiting his appearances for Chelsea to just nine matches. Kante will be joining his compatriot Karim Benzema, who recently departed Real Madrid and signed a three-year contract with Al-Ittihad earlier this month.
This move marks the conclusion of a highly successful period for Kante in English football. He played a crucial role in Leicester City’s triumph in the 2015-16 Premier League season before transferring to Chelsea.
At Chelsea, N’Golo Kante won numerous titles, including the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup. In recognition of his exceptional performances, he was honored as the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season. Kante also played a pivotal role in France’s victory in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
According to reports, Kante has signed a lucrative three-year contract with Al-Ittihad, worth an estimated £86 million. With his move, Kante joins the likes of Karim Benzema and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia. Several high-profile players have been linked with potential transfers to leading Saudi Arabian clubs.
