Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku asked to complete forms and re-submit
Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, one of the aspiring flagbearers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana, has been requested to complete his nomination forms and resubmit them to the party’s elections committee.
When he visited the party headquarters on June 19, 2023, to submit his forms, it was discovered upon scrutiny that they had not been filled out entirely.
Although the specific details of the required additions and corrections have not been disclosed to the media, sources at the party headquarters have indicated that the elections committee is prepared to receive Dr. Apraku once he returns with the completed forms. It has been revealed that certain documents, such as his CV and personal contributions to the party, were not included in the nomination document initially submitted.
In the meantime, another flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has expressed indifference towards the large crowds that have accompanied the filing of nomination forms by other candidates within the NPP. Following the submission of his forms at the party headquarters on June 19, Dr. Akoto addressed the press, stating that he chose to present his forms only with key members of his campaign team, instead of arranging for the transportation of supporters.
Dr. Akoto expressed gratitude for the support he received from his delegates and constituency chairmen, who willingly came to the party headquarters to back his candidacy. He called upon his supporters to remain dedicated to the goal of electing him as the NPP’s flagbearer.
He said, “I want to emphasize that everyone who has gathered here, including representatives of farmers, are here by their own choice. There are no organized crowds or buses bringing people to support me. People have come based on their own belief and conviction that my leadership would be beneficial for Ghana and the NPP, and I am deeply appreciative.”
The process of filing nomination forms for the NPP flagbearership election is ongoing, with the deadline set for June 24.
