Ghana Joins Other African Countries To Mark AU Day

Today is African Union Day. African Day is an annual celebration of the achievements and potential of the African continent.

Its date, May 25 commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity, OAU, the precursor of the current African Union.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the signature of its founding charter in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The African Union is commemorated on the theme: Accelerating the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) aimed at creating a single market for goods and services facilitated by the free movement of persons, capital, and investment to deepen economic integration, promote and attain sustainable and inclusive socio-economic development, gender equality, and industrialization, agricultural development, food security, and structural transformation.
