Chief of Kejabil advocates for preservation of natural forest reserves

The Chief of Kejabil , Nana Angamatsia VI has called on Ghanaians especially natives of Kejabil to protect natural forest reserves located in the town.


Kejabil, is a town found in the Ahanta West District with distance of 484 km from Takoradi.


Nana Angamatsia VI in an interview with Spice FM said, the land of Kejabil is endowned with natural resources amongst which are forest reserves, rivers, cocoa and many more.


He was speaking on the theme of preserving the natural resources as he shared a brief history on the establishment of the Kejabil Township on Spice FM’s Sankofa segment on the Adekyee Mu Nsem Morning Show program.


He lamented on how people are abusing river bodies located in the town to wash cars and undertake construction works, adding that leaders are taking steps to stamp out such practices.


“I together with my opinion leaders are trying our best to preserve the river from destruction. We want to preserve it to serve as a historical landmark for future generations,” he said.


Nana Angamatsia also mentioned that unscrupluos persons disrespectfully enter the forest reserve which serves as a home for the ancient god, Nana Bokro which is literally known as “One Stone” to cut down trees.


He noted that the forest is forbidden to be invaded but natives often flout the laws to cut down species of trees from the forest.
He said stricter punishment is going to be sanctioned to defaulters to serve as deterrent to others.


He added that the generation of today don’t cherish the environment within which they live in as well as things that surround them.


“We don’t cherish our environment. We have natural made forest and I don’t think we should deplete it. Individuals should respect what has been preserved for us.


He advised people to do well and protect what has been passed down to them by their predecessors.
