Sekondi-Takoradi’s Music Leader, Beach 105.5 FM brought the curtain down on the maiden edition of the Word for Word Bible quiz on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Six churches, Christian Faith Church International, God Is Our Light (Rhema) Church International, Latter Rain Family Chapel, Grace Pentecostal Church, Potter’s Sanctuary Chapel and, Christian Restoration Ministries International, battled it out for a spot in the final.
Grace Pentecostal Church won the heated 5-rounded final contest with 113 points, God is our Light (Rhema) Church International followed up closely with 105 points and, the Christian Restoration Ministries International came out third with 85 points.
Quiz Master, Rev. Nana Adjei Boakye, praised the participating churches and organizers of the event. Likening the quiz to the Champions League, he advised Churches to replicate it to prepare their members for the second edition.
“I think this initiative by Beach FM is outstanding. They have done so well in putting this together. Not everyone would want to do this; they stand out for that.”
“I believe this is one thing that will get a lot more people closer to the word of God and I think the churches can replicate this to help us raise a generation that love the Lord, knows the Word and, know where to put the priorities of their lives.
For participation for the next contest, I think every church should be eager to be there. This is the Champions League of the bible so every church should prepare themselves to be ready”, he added.
Programs Manager for Beach FM, Macall Mensah, in his remarks stressed reasons why Takoradi’s most exciting urban radio station organized the first ever radio bible quiz in the region, further revealing that its second edition will return in December, on an even bigger stage.
“The dream has always been to build an affinity to our listeners especially those in the Christian fraternity and we believe that sharing the word of God in an exciting way through the form of a quiz was a great initiative.
The churches and Christian groups here in Sekondi-Takoradi have fallen in love with this, and we will want to draw closer to them. So, there are conversations that we might hold the second edition for the Word for Word bible quiz in December”, Mr. Mensah revealed.
Contestants thanked Beach FM for organizing the bible quiz, adding that, they look forward to more exciting competitions.
