The Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Hon. Kojo Aquah has touted the Effia-Kwesiminstim Municipal Assembly as one of the best Assemblies in Ghana that has experienced tremendous development within a space of five years since its establishment on 15th March 2018.
He recounted some of the critical areas of the Assembly’s economy that have greatly improved including Infrastructure, Roads, Agriculture and more.
” We gradually and successfully constructed the construction of several physical projects in the area of education, health, roads, security, commerce, and agriculture to qualified contractors through necessary processes. For March 2018 to date, the Assembly has undertaken a total of 75 projects out of which 61 have been completed, handed over and it’s in use.
14 remain ongoing at a total amount of 34 million 4 hundred and 93 thousand, 3 hundred and 79 Ghana cedis, 40 pesewas.
The Assembly in the past five years has repositioned agriculture to play its expected role as a driving force in our Municipality’s economic growth,” He said.
He further went ahead to share some of the gains the Assembly has made in the Area of security within the Municipality.
“We have seen the peaceful year-after-year celebration of Kundum by the Ahanta community as compared to previous celebrations which were characterized by violence. We put measures in place to check the prevailing conflicts between the Alasuna and Tigyani factions in the Muslim religious community over worshipping practices that have destroyed the Assakae Central Mosque.
Although peace has prevailed between these factions, the issue of their worship in the rehabilitated Assakae mosque is still in the law court. REGSEC currently engaged leadership of the faction,” He added.
Regional Minister, Hon Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah shared some of his experiences and Contribution to the Assembly and congratulated the assembly for the feet it has chopped within the last 5 five years.
EKMA’s 5th year anniversary brought together dignitaries from Traditional Authorities within the municipality and other notable personalities from all walks of life to grace the occasion.
The event was a spice exhibition of projects the assembly has embarked on since its inception.
