To enhance food security in the country, the European Union (EU) has committed 10 million Euros(€10 million). This came to light at the inauguration of the 2023 Ghana -European Union Political Dialogue led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
At the ceremony Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia announced that the support will complement the government’s planting for food and jobs initiatives.
Vice President was hopeful that the dialogue will create the opportunity for both parties to deepen corporations and strengthen the existing relationship between Ghana and the EU, and address the bilateral and multilateral challenges for the benefit of the citizens of both sides.
The dialogue focused on Economic Partnership, National and Regional Security, Good Governance and Human Rights, Sustainability, and Human Growth and Partnership in a challenging global context.
He urged participants to take stock of the gains made and explore new avenues for cooperation.
” I would like to seize this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the EU for allocating 10 million Euro to support Ghana’s food security which will definitely augment the government’s agenda of painting for food and jobs.
As we proceed, I am confident that the outcome of today’s discussions will further strengthen the existing relations between Ghana and the EU as we work collectively towards addressing bilateral and multilateral challenges for the benefit of our people.” Vice President stated.
Ambassador of the delegation of the European Union to Ghana, Irchad Razaaly commended government for the putting the funds made available to good use.
He said, with Russia -Ukraine conflicts lingering, the EU is committed to minimizing the effect on food security.
” Our ambition first to is to accompany Ghana, overcome the crisis, to work for Ghana to become the regional economics to be ,and finally for the country’s leaders from politicians diplomats, entrepreneurs and youth to continue to be engaged and indispensable voice on the international scene. We must be transparent, frank and willing to compromise, “He said.
