Clear traders from the Jubillee Park to allow the park live up to national duty- Apremdo chief

Divisional Chief of the Ahanta Traditional Council and Chief of Apremdo Nana Egya Kwamina Xi is calling city authorities to as a matter of urgency clear traders from the Jubillee Park to allow the park live up to its duties of national and ceremonial events.

The Jubilee Park, was a monumental Project undertaken by the Kuffour led administration when Ghana turned 50 years in 2008 but the conversion of the park to a trade centre in recent times despite the many options for such trading activities had left many dwellers in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan area unhappy.

According to them the Apremdo Market was the ultimate solution to this market relocation crisis rather than a National event park being converted for that purpose.

Nana Egya Kwamina Xi is therefore calling on the political heads within the Western Region to immediately take the park to its original state to serve its intent and purposes as a National Heritage.

“Abenbebom market is still lying in the ruins and is nothing to write home about, meanwhile it was the best antidote when a search for market begin some years to allow for the redevelopment” he said

“Tax payer’s monies were used for both projects to serve different purposes but here is the case, the Market is abandoned and jubilee grounds is rather serving as a market. now state functions or programmes are being moved around unnecessarily.” He added.
