Minister For Public Enterprises Calls For Collaborative Efforts To Attract Investors

The Minister for Public Enterprises Joseph Cudjoe has called for collaborative efforts from all 175 specified entities to attract investors into the country.

The SOEs comprise 52 state enterprises, 46 joint venture companies, and 77 other state entities determined to implement policies to stabilize the economy.

According to Mr. Cudjoe, the approval of the State Ownership Policy Reforms by Parliament will help resolve the Public Financial Management Regulations Act.

“The state ownership policy is currently being discussed at the final stages for cabinet’s approval..
The SOP is intended to harmonise the public financial management Act with SIGA Act by addressing all ambiguities and inconsistencies identified in both local documents by ensuring policies.

The SOP’s when approved will ultimately solve the long standing issue or fragmented policy initiatives,” Mr. Joseph Cudjoe stated.

The Minister was speaking at the 2023 State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGAs) Annual Stakeholder meeting.

Addressing issues of taxation on the topic, ” Sustaining Fiscal Consolidation Through The Enhancement of Domestic Revenue Mobilization, The Role of Specified Entities “

Assistant Commissioner at the Large Taxpayers Office of GRA, Martin Yamboyera highlighted the Authority’s new tax amendment plans.

He called on the various entities to assist the GRA in the area of tax compliance.

” We will be depending much on you that you assist us in the area of compliance so that any body you are doing business with, you need to be sure that the person is tax registered.

So you need to request for their tax clearance certificate when it’s needed and make sure that they pay. “
