30 Percent Salary Increment Cannot Be Described As A Great Feat – GFL

The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) says a 30 percent salary increment across the board cannot be described as a great feat considering the country’s inflation of about 54 percent rate.

Government after several negotiations with Organised Labour increased the base pay for the 2023 fiscal year by 30 percent.

Though the increment takes effect this January 1, 2023, the Secretary General of GFL, Abraham Koomson fears the government may not be able to pay workers the 30 percent increment.

Mr. Koomson said, workers are doing their best, however, they are at a loss considering government’s management of the economy.

He, therefore reiterates the need for the government to urgently downsize emphasizing that the economic difficulties do not support the large size of the government.
