#Yao’sWatchlist: Netflix Norse Saga, Vikings: Valhalla is back for Season 2… Time to Jump Back in

Vikings Valhalla

Netflix released Vikings Valhalla in February 2022 after the wildly successful History Channel Epic Vikings, took the world by storm with its bloody, gritty and intriguing interpretation of the exploits of great Norsemen and their rampaging ravaging of Europe. While the story focused on the enigmatic and charismatic Ragnar Lothbrok and his progeny after him, Vikings Valhalla settles on telling the tales of the intrepid Norsemen and their insatiable blood-soaked ambitions to conquer Europe.

You’re introduced to diverse characters with different motivations – running away from the family’s bad name, making a name in history and those scheming and conniving to take it all for themselves.

For the most part, the stories and characters in Vikings Valhalla are deeply engrossing. Main plot as well as diverging ones are done with great emotional depth to them. Downside to such historical dramas is the usual slow plodding approach to world and story building.

Thankfully once things kick into gear, you will enjoy the double scheming the characters get into.

Vikings Valhalla

Most gratifying part of V:V is the incredible knowledge that these wild, brilliant albeit dangerous people actually lived, with a heavy dose of dramatic freedom exercised by the producers of course.

There are two incredible seasons to enjoy so dig before Netflix finds a reason to put an axe to their neck and cancels them.

Disclaimer: this is not a show to be watched with kids. There’s brutal violence, dismemberments and graphic nudity and sex.
