I Have Never Received royalty from GHAMRO Before -Ayesem
Mutiple Award Winning Artiste Ayesem, has stated clearly there’s no way he’s going to Chase GHAMRO for his royalties.
The champagne singer said that he has never received any form of royalty from the Ghana Music right Organization. He made this revelation in an interview with Yoofi Eyeson on spice FM’s Pimpinaa show this Saturday.
When questioned if he’s a member of the organization “GHAMRO” he said yes, with no hesitations.
Ayesem has been in the music scene for years and his songs have enjoyed massive airplay which automatically qualifies him to receive royalties from GHAMRO as a member, but he has received none. When being asked if he has gone to their office to make enquires; he answered No.
According to him, GHAMRO is supposed to reach out to him.
“They’re supposed to call the artiste and ask of the medium the money should be sent through. As far as the artiste is a member and their music is being played, the artiste is not suppose to call them, they should rather call the artiste because they take money on their behalf. The right thing they can ever do is to send the artiste money to them respectively”, he said.
To him, he agrees with the fact that GHAMRO is a useless music entity as Edem said.
” Well, I won’t argue about that because Edem has reasons for saying that. I heard recently a musician who has been in the scene for 17 years received Ghc153. I mean how?
If someone who has been in the scene for that long receives such an amount, how much more me? I won’t follow up for just Ghc153, I’d rather stay home and sleep”, he said.
He wonders why GHAMRO are not operating as they should and yet people are fighting to become presidents.
“Sometimes I ask myself why people are fighting to become leaders when they know perfectly well that things are not going well. It means they enjoy certain things that you and I are not aware of, think about that”, he said.
He requested that the media invites one of GHAMRO operators so that the musicians can question them on certain things they find unclear.
He urged them to do better because other countries are doing the most for their artistes unlike Ghana.
