Se/T’di: Vendors Cash In On Black Stars Paraphernalia Ahead Of Portugal Clash

Ahead of the Ghana Black Star’s first match against Portugal tomorrow, Thursday, November 24, 2022, the sale of paraphernalia like flags, Black Star-branded jerseys, and other souvenirs has seen a rise in patronage.

Beach Newsroom’s visit to some shops in the Central Business District of Sekondi -Takoradi displayed a variety of Black Stars jerseys.

Some of the jerseys range from red, yellow, white, and black with the official symbol of the Ghana Football Association.

Baffour Asare, a vendor at the Takoradi Market said, the market of the Ghana flag has been slow but was hopeful he would make good sales subsequently.

According to him, the cost varies depending on the size of the flag a person wants. The bigger one goes for GHC40.00 while the smaller size goes for GHC5.00.

” The sale has not been too good. I believe on the match day people will come to buy. People come to buy the big size as well as the smaller ones. I believe there would be massive patronage if Ghana should win their game against Portugal,” He said.

A jersey vendor said, a few months ago, the jerseys were much cheaper but due to the hikes in prices, the cost have gone up but people are still purchasing them.

The prices, he said, range from 70.00 to 120 cedis. According to him, there’s been a shortage of original jerseys, so people only buy the normal ones.

” People are rushing for the Ghana jerseys because of tomorow’s match. When people come to buy they ask of the original ones but there is a shortage , so they just buy the normal ones like that,” He said.
