The Assembly Member of the Asemensidu Electoral Area within the Sekondi Metro Area, Osuman Ibrahim is calling for police protection as he believes his life is under threat.
His calls for protection come after a comment he made at the just-ended conference, dubbed,’ Time for Accountability’ organised by a group calling itself, Concerned Youth of Sekondi.
The group as part of the conference was demanding accountability from the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer based on a promise that was made ahead of 2020 which has not been materialised.
In an interview with Kwame Offie on Spice 91.9 FM’s Morning Show Adzekyee Mu Nsem, Mr. Ibrahim says, he has received messages from the Sekondi Member of Parliament claiming that he ( Ibrahim) has defamed him (Sekondi MP).
In a WhatsApp message that was sent to Mr Ibrahim popularly called Sansiro, the MP gave an ultimatum of 24 hours for him to retract the message.
Due to the refusal of the assemblyman to act according to the MP’s order, the MP assured him of dealing with his ignorance and arrogance and assured him of facing the repercussions of his actions.
According to Osuman, he never said anything which suggests that he defamed the Member of Parliament.
“I want to inform all the security agencies that I need protection because of how things are panning out, my lawyer is in charge of the issue so I don’t want to talk much about it, all I need now is strong protection because saying you will take appropriate action to me sounds daisy.
As a community leader I speak to issues as it is ,I didnt mention any name in my speech ,saying its rumored doesnt state any name so I’m not retracting anything from what I said, becuase I’ve not insulted anyone, I am just fighting for my town .
They can send the issue to anywhere they want I’m ready to follow the due course,” He said.
