Drivers To Charge Their Own Fares If Negotiations Fail

Drivers

The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG) has indicated they will be forced to increase transport fares in line with the hikes in fuel and car spare parts which takes a toll on their income.

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) is targeting a 30 percent to 40 percent increase in transport fares following the recent rise in prices of petroleum products.

The Union said negotiations for the upward adjustment will be announced in due time, Public Relations Officer for the Concerned Drivers Association Mr. David Agboado says the drivers requested for a 50% increment but the GPRTU pleaded they settled for 40%, he said if the agreement doesn’t favor the drivers they will decide on fares to charge.
