Western Regional Fire Command Holds Drills And Quiz Competition At Shama

The Zone C Western Regional Fire Command Drills and Quiz Competition has ended at the Shama Fire Station with Shama emerging as the winners.

The competition was between fire personnel in the Western Region.

The Second in Command at the Western Regional Ghana National Fire Service, DO1 Nii Tettey explained that fire drills form an essential part of commercial safety practices which allows personnel to tailor their evacuation process.

“Our aim of organising the quiz and drill competition is to further educate our men on what they need to do when they go out into field. There are lot of new things coming up, so it is incumbent on us also to make sure fire fighters learn these new things,” He said.

DO 1 Tettey notes that, it is vital personnel are nominated and equipped with the right information when it comes to fire drills.

In an interview with the media, he said, ” the drill forms part of an overall fire assessment under the regulatory reform fire safety order”.

The competition according to the Regional Fire Public Relations Officer DO3 Emmanuel Bonney will span to somewhere in November.

“The idea of this challenge is to train the personnel in the region, and so we needed to do the drill and quiz competition. The competition will be spanning to somewhere in November, ” DO3 Bonney stated.
