Some mobile network subscribers last week experienced interruptions with their phone service following the sanctions imposed by the National Communications Authority (NCA).

With the looming deadline and the roll-out of the punitive voice and data measures for unregistered sim cards, as the NCA sanctions bit hard.

The CEO of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic in Communication, Prince Ofosu Sefa lamented the last minute of Ghanaians accessing services.

He noted that data shows a significant drop in sim card re-registration when deadlines are extended.

Mr Sefa says the NCA’s measures are necessitated to bring people to do the needful.

The PRO of the National Identification Authority (NIA) Dr Abdul Ganiyu who provided some figures concerning the number of printed and issued Ghana cards was worried that many Ghanaians have not gone for their Ghana cards since they were printed.

He noted that the NIA is doing its best under the current pressure and logistical constraints to deliver on its mandate.
