Electricity, A Major Challenge Facing Mpohor Residents
About 70 per cent of houses in the Mpohor district do not have access to electricity.
This has become an issue in the district, according to the Member of Parliament of the area, John Sani.
Mr John Sani, in an interview, disclosed that electricity is a major challenge in the district as 14 communities namely K9, K3, K5 and Anhwiam are deprived of power supply.
Hon. Sani reveals that to curb the situation, he has introduced a project “1 House, 1 meter” lobbying with the Minister of Energy of which the first phase has been completed.
He assures residents, by the end of his tenure, the Mpohor district will be free of electricity issues.
“I have come up with a project called 1 house, 1 meter. Almost 70% of houses in my district do not have meters. 10 houses are connected to one meter and sharing of the bill becomes a problem. I have lobbied with ECG and the Ministry of Energy for meters. We are done with the first phase in some communities.
Some 10 virgin communities do not have access to electricity at all.
We also have some communities that need an extension as the community is developing.
I assure them that, at the end of my tenure everyone in my district will have access to electricity,” He stated.
