Assembly Member Appeals For Infrastructural Developments For Whindo Electoral Area

Assembly Member for the Whindo and Assakae Electoral Area in the Effiakuma Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA), Alex Nana Acheampong, has recounted several infrastructures lacking in his jurisdiction.

The Assembly Member in an interview states that the contractor in charge of fixing the road is delaying work making the road inaccessible to residents and motorists.

” When it comes to roads we have just 60 per cent done so far , they were supposed to be completed last year , we presume they want to do a perfect job reason they are still not done,” He said.

He reveals that construction work on Whindo road is about 60 per cent complete, and are expecting the contractor to return to the site and complete the project.

Mr Acheampong further says the community lacks proper drinking water which forces them to use the only river as their source of water.

Touching on sanitation, he pleads with authorities to add an extra refuse bin to further improve sanitation issues.

“The River Whin’s starting point is within the Mampong enclave, the galamsey operation is not close to us but the repeal effect is what we suffer in this area.

With the issue of dumping refuse, a donor fund has been used to build a new structure to help in keeping the community clean. Currently, we have just one garbage collecting container but as the community opens up we need more,” He stated.

Mr Acheampong also lamented on the state of their bridge which connects them to adjoining communities. He said, the bridge needs to be replaced with a new one because residents sometimes find it difficult to access it.
