Redevelopment works on the construction of the 100-year-old Takoradi Market Project is almost completed, according to officials.
The Director of the Takoradi Sub Metro of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), Nana Asempanaye Yeboah said, this in an interview with the media.
According to him, the reconstruction work is progressing steadily.
He noted that various components of the project are almost completed, and disclosed that preliminary works are 100 per cent complete with earthworks which constituted 6 per cent of the entire project.
The foundation is also 100 per cent complete with steel works which constitute 18 per cent and is also 14 per cent complete.
The roofing constitutes 6 per cent of the entire project is 4 per cent complete.
Reacting to how the shed in the new market would be distributed after completion, Nana Yeboah said, whoever had a space in the market before the project began would be given a green card while validating all traders.
The redevelopment of the Takoradi Market Circle project is expected to be handed over to the government by 2023.
