Ghana Poultry Farm Association Urges The Government To Revamp The Poultry Industry

The Immediate Vice President of the Poultry Farmers Association of Ghana, Mr Napoleon Oduro is urging the government to revive the poultry industry.

Speaking to the media, he indicated that, due to the cedi depreciation, prices of feeds especially maize, sorghum amongst others are high in recent times as compared to previous years.

Thus, farmers are compelled to increase their prices of which consumers complain about the high value of their stocks.

He said Ghana’s poultry importation has negatively affected the industry as the demand is high in the market.

Research indicates that, the local livestock is consumed by 2% of the country’s population.

Touching on the income from poultry farming, he indicated that, it is a major source of income for farmers in the country and should be a socio economic importance to the country in the reduction of rural poverty and unemployment.
