However, an Economist, Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo says it is inappropriate for the increment tariffs considering the high standard of living.

Meanwhile Some residents here in the Sekondi- Takoradi Metropolis are in agreement for the proposed increase in utility tariffs.

According to these residents, the depreciation of the cedi is affecting all businesses hence these companies are to increase their tariffs.

Speaking to Business Daily, these residents say they are not surprised by the increment.

However, they urge that the major utility companies Ghana Water Company Limited and the Electricity Company of Ghana should make the increment market-oriented looking at the inefficient service they continue to offer and the economic burden of Ghanaians.
