VIVO ENERGY RENOVATES AND FURNISHES ST. PETER’s CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL IN NEW TAKORADI
Vivo Energy Ghana, the exclusive marketers and distributors of Shell branded products and services together with its employees have renovated and handed over a three-unit classroom block at St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School in the Sekondi Takoradi Municipality.
This project, is to join Ghana and the rest of the world celebrate international Literacy day under the theme “ Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces” with the aim of building resilience and ensure quality, equitable and inclusive education for all.
Vivo Energy In addition to the renovation, provided classroom furniture, white boards,a Dust bin to the school while other classroom blocks were also repainted, to ensure a safe learning environment.
Speaking exclusively to Beach Newsroom, the corporate communication manager for vivo energy Mrs Shirley Tony Kum disclosed that Vivo Energy has over the years devoted itself to ensuring the welfare of the communities within which it operates and New Takoradi being one of their depot community has been part of this project.
According to her, education is part of their key focus, and the mandate has been executed through sustainable development Goal 4 which is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
“The motivation is that we want to grow with our communities. As a company, we are not only focused on what we are getting from our customers but we are also giving back to our community and of course, education is one of our key focus areas, we are into road safety education and the environment. For this purpose, we are here to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goal in the area of education”
”It’s been a cordial relationship with them and we know that we can collaborate on future projects. We also believe in Partnership for development so even if we cannot do it alone we’ll collaborate with other companies within the community so that we also give back to the community” She said.
On her part the Headmistress of St Peter’s Catholic Primary Madam Mauricia Vroom thanked vivo energy for the kind gesture and pledged to put the facility into good use.
“We are so grateful to Vivo Energy for this wonderful job they have done for the school. We least expected this from them. We are so grateful. The children are going to sit in there right away to study” she said.
