Residents of Effiakuma Black Starbhave been battling against an acute water shortage for close to a month.

The shortage has badly affected homes and several educational institutions and businesses. While some have no water running through their taps, others have seen intermittent flows.

Residents are seen roaming around with their gallons, buckets, rubber bowls and other containers in search of water for their daily chores.

Speaking to Beach Newsroom, these residents lamented that the shortage has made their social activities difficult and are therefore calling on city authorities to come to their aid.

” This issue has been a bothersome for a while now. Those of us who sell our tap water are running at a loss now. We are not making any profit but are expected to pay our bills at the end of the month. We are provided with contaminated water anytime it flows.

We now rely solely on the inadequate wells around. We plead with the authorities to take action because we are not making any sales.”

“It’s been almost a year since we experienced this water shortage. It comes once in a week. We buy it outside now and that is costly. A gallon is sold at 80 pesewas . The authorities responsible should take the necessary action.”
