W/R: NAGRAT to go on strike over Cost Of Living Allowance
Western Regional Branch of the Ghana National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has served notice that they will lay down their tools by the end of this month if the government fails to pay them the Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA).
Addressing the media this morning, Regional Chairman of the Association, Justin Nelson said the government has turned a blind eye to their request despite the harsh economic conditions facing the Ghanaian worker.
He said prices of goods and services are at a record high coupled with a constant increase in fuel prices.
Mr Nelson further added that government ineptitude towards the call for the 20 per cent COLA to the suffering Ghanaian Teacher will leave them no alternative but embark on an industrial strike.
He said the deafening silence and the apparent disinterest by the government in the call for payment of the Cost of living allowance is worrying.
