The Executive Director of Mobilisation Africa, Geoffrey Ocansey has reiterated the need for the government to reduce some tax levies imposed on businesses especially Small and Medium Scale Enterprises.
Speaking on the sidelines of the National Tax Forum held in Accra, Mr Geoffrey Ocansey said the tax cuts would lessen the burden on businesses.
He however urged the Ghana Revenue Authority, GRA, to streamline the format used in taxing SMEs to make it “more flexible and comprehensible”.
Meanwhile, some entrepreneurs here in the Metropolis, have shared diverse views on this subject.
” I think the SMEs can be taxed but it should not be as the bigger companies are taxed.”
“SMEs are not running away from being taxed, the only thing is GRA should spare us a little by not taxing us with heavy taxes. We are startups and so if we are given higher taxes, it may effect out businesses.”
