Tragic: 14 persons feared dead in gory accident at Asemasa

About 14 passengers are feared dead after they were involved in an accident at Asemasa No 1 near Beposo in the Shama District.

The accident which happened between a truck and a Ford Passenger vehicle occurred on Tuesday, March 22.

According to reports made known to Spice 91.9FM, a Ford mini vehicle from Accra en route to Takoradi crashed with an Articulator truck loaded with quarry stones after a wrongful overtaking by the truck.

Eye witness reports that the accident was a head – on collision.

The two vehicles caught fire after colliding, according to eye witness.

Police and Fire Service are currently on the scene.

According to the Western Regional Police Commander for the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), Chief Superintendent Isaac Sorkpah confirmed that all 14 passengers in the Ford Bus with registration number GW-6628 – 21 lost their lives in the accident.

He mentioned that dead bodies would be sent to the Interbeton Hospital in Cape Coast for autopsy.

Superintendent Sorkpah disclosed that the driver and his mate were able to escape the fire but sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the Cape Coast Hospital.

According to him, there are 10 men and 4 women including a Chinese national involved in the accident.
