Chieftaincy Minister not dead – Spokesperson
Spokesperson for the Member of Parliament for Ahanta West and Minister of Chieftaincy Ebenezer Kojo Kum has denied claims that the lawmaker has died.
News of the MP’s death gathered further momentum after a publication by Ghanaweb.
The lawmaker has reportedly been unwell for sometime now. His condition has gained attention due to the numbers challenge the ruling party is having in the attempt to pass e-levy in Parliament.
Barnabas Annan confirmed in an interview with the media in Takoradi on Wednesday morning that the MP has been ill for some time now but debunked reports of his death.
“Take it from me the Honourable Minister is alive, God willing we will soon hear from him, he is not dead as Ghanaweb and other news portals are reporting.
“It is true he was taken ill, but he is responding to treatment. He is not dead,” he said.
He warned Ghanaweb to desist from such reports.
Meanwhile, Ghanaweb has issued a retraction and apology to the MP.
“The publication was erroneous and lacked due diligence on our part. The mistake was due to incorrect information supplied by a trusted source,” Ghanaweb said.
