Spice FM joins the world to celebrate World International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is celebrated across the globe annually on March 8, is a day that commemorates the social, political and economic achievements of women. Women in different parts of the world use this day to come together to celebrate one another and rally for equal treatment and representation.

The year is celebrated on the theme; ”Gender equality today for sustainable tomorrow”, with a campaign represented by the #BreakTheBias which calls on people to work towards a  world that is equitable, inclusive, and free from bias and discrimination so the playing field is levelled for women moving forward.

In Ghana, women as part of the celebration use the day to empower young ladies to aspire to take leadership positions in a bid to #BreakTheBias.

Spice 91.9FM as part of the day; organized an all-women program to celebrate the day.

Women, who are making strides in their respective careers, shared their successes, failures and challenges regarding their journey of work.

The Education Director of the Effia Kwesimintsim Metropolitan Assembly (EKMA), Mrs Catherine Biney in a telephone interview admonished young ladies to influence their circles with the right people who can mentor them, and enhance their growth as they take up leadership roles in society.

Deputy Chief Investigator of Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Efua Yankson, CEO of Ginafil Foods Industries, Rev. Georgina Filson Nyane and Regional Director of Department of Gender, Maribel Okine shared some life experiences and encouraged women to develop themselves to face challenges faced in life.

Madam Emma Somia – Kwaw, head of Sales of Databank, hosted the Spice 91.9FM flagship program, Adekyee Mu Nsem Morning Show.

It was a time of inspiration, as these women encouraged fellow women to aspire to become better versions of themselves and not belittle themselves but have the can-do spirit to overcome the challenges faced in life.
