The Education Director at the Effia Kwesimintsim Metropolitan Assembly (EKMA), Mrs Catherine Biney, has entreated young women not to be disheartened when they face opposition from other women.
Mrs Biney in an interview with Spice 91.9FM, on the celebration of the International Women’s Day shared insights into how women can overcome hurdles faced in their careers as well as the home.
She urged that though challenges are faced in every stage of life yet women should be resolute in overcoming them, adding that women should always aspire to take leadership positions and to serve as role models to others.
“As you take up leadership role as a woman, don’t be afraid of criticism because they shape you into becoming better. Some women like to oppose other women because of the position they occupy and this should not deter you from,” She said.
Mrs Biney entreated women to surround themselves with mentors and role models who can nurture their capabilities to enhance them flourish in respective careers amongst other aspects of life.
She stated, “Women make a lot of impact in life, and that not all things can be done by you. Open up; bring people into your circle, influence them and let them also influence you positively by learning from them.”
Mrs Catherine Biney appealed to women to support each other so as to achieve the goal of ending inequality and discrimination of women across the country.
