V/R: Residents of Godenu attribute property damage within their community to the police

Inhabitants of Godenu and Wegbee located within the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region have leveled accusations against the police, asserting that the law enforcement officers were responsible for causing damage to multiple properties within their locality as a consequence of a confrontation.

According to the residents, the police pursued an individual suspected of carrying illicit substances, resulting in a collision involving the suspect.

The residents’ contention is that this accident led the local youth to believe that the suspect had been intentionally harmed.

Consequently, it is alleged that the youth set fire to the police vehicle, which in turn triggered a forceful response from the police towards the community.

The residents of Godenu further claim that the police were involved in burning motorcycles and shattering car windshields.
