Appiatse Road open to traffic after reconstruction
The Appiatse road which was inaccessible due to the impact of the January 20 explosion in the community has been reopened to traffic.
There was a huge explosion in Appiatse, a community between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Western Region and according to reports, 17 people have been confirmed dead while several others were injured in the process.
This explosion had a huge impact on the road, destroying it totally, cutting commuters and drivers from neighbouring towns off.
The Western Regional Minister, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, Deputy Minister of Roads, Mr Stephen P. Jalulah, together with other government officials opened the road to traffic on Thursday, March 3, 2022.
Mr Thywill Quashie, the Public Relations Officer for the Appiatse Disaster Relief Committee confirmed the information to the media in an interview.
He further indicated that the road has been refixed with rumble strips and a zebra crossing to ensure the safety of the people.
