Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital To Hold Open Day For The Public

The Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital is set to hold an Open Day for the general public on December 9, 2021 at the Forecourt of the Hospital.

The Open Day which is also a form of health tourism is expected to provide avenue for the general public to familiarise themselves with the services rendered by the hospital.

The Open Day is themed: Leave no one’s health behind; Invest in the health Systems for all.

In an interview on Adzekye Mu Nsem on Spice Fm, Chairperson of the Open Day Committe , Dr. Nana Esi Gaisie said the Open Day is to connect with the public in accessing healthcare at the hospital and to show forth the services offered by the hospital.

The Public Relations Officer, Christian Baidoo mentioned that the aim of the Open Day is to enable the public to familiarize themselves with the staff as well as the services offered by the hospital as well as to receive free consultations on OPD.

Addressing the challenges faced by the hospital, Mr. Baidoo cited that the health facility is congested as there are lack of infrastructure in delivery of health care to the people in the region. Being the only regional hospital in the region serving over thousand population, the hospital has the core mandate of delivering quality health care to their clients therefore there is the need for support.

“Being the only Regional Hospital and a referral one, we have issues with infrastructure. As a government institution, we have challenges with security and other issues that has to do with clients not paying for the services offered to them. This serves as a setback to the facility as it do not help with the running of the hospital, all stakeholders who wants to support us one way or the other are welcome on board .”

As part of the Open Day, the general public can have access to the services such as free screening on cervical cancer, prostrate, ENT. There will also be blood donation to refurbish the blood bank to avert  shortage of blood.
