WAEC releases witheld 2024 WASSCE results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released all previously withheld results from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), following a court order.

This move comes after WAEC had initially withheld over 10,000 results due to suspected malpractice, which led to a legal dispute and threats of nationwide protests by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS).

John Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, confirmed that the council had kept its promise to release the results by February 28.

“As promised, we ensured that by the end of February 28, all results for candidates whose results were withheld had been uploaded,” he stated.

Kapi explained that the court’s directive played a key role in the council’s decision to release the results.

“The court ordered that we release the results of those candidates, and we have complied. There are no outstanding results related to these exams,” he said.

Now that the results have been made available, candidates can access them online. Kapi acknowledged that some candidates might still be waiting to register complaints, but he assured that WAEC is confident the released results accurately reflect the candidates’ performance.

“Since the 28th was a Friday, we anticipate that some candidates may wait until the start of the week to contact the office with any concerns. However, we believe the results reflect the true performance of the candidates in the examination,” he added.
